My baby is a 1 year old!! Well technically she is still 11 months, her Birthday is actually on January 23rd, Jake will be gone on her actual Birthday and this was the only time he was going to be able to take leave in the Navy. So we gave her an early Birthday bash. (I will be doing a one year photo shoot with Aspen for her actual Birthday, so stay tuned for that.)
This was by far the quickest year of my life. It’s such a true statement when people say cherish every moment with your child because they grow in a blink of an eye. I swear it was yesterday that I found out I was pregnant. Now look, my biggest blessing is one years old! A lot of you have watched my journey through motherhood. I was a scared 22 year old giving birth to Aspen not knowing what to expect and scared like most new moms that I was going to be terrible at the whole mom thing. I caught on fast, have learned a lot and can’t picture myself not being a mother now. It’s what I was meant for…
Okay I know what you’re thinking! Why take a 1 year old to Disney and have her first Birthday there when she could hardly ride any rides and do much? Well the truth is this is our last year living in Florida so this is the one year we could really have Aspens birthday at Disney. So why not just do it!!
Our first full day in Orlando we went to Animal Kingdom and Aspen had so much fun!! She took a 1 1/2 hour nap when we first got there but once she woke up she was ready for all the excitement. We started by playing carnival like games and winning toys for her. Of course she loved winning new toys for herself. Then took her to the Nemo show and she honestly didn’t like that very much. It’s safe to say she’s not ready to go to the movies any time soon.
So we took her on the Safari ride and she had an absolute blast, it was a bumpy ride and she thought it was hilarious and she loved looking at all the animals up close. We also took her to a petting zoo there at the park, and she loved chasing the goats around trying to pet them, those poor goats. LOL having to deal with kids all day. We made sure Aspen was super sweet and gentle with them.
After hours of waiting in line (since there are billions of people there) lol, and dealing with the hot sun we decided to call it a day and go get some food at the Rainforest cafe and go back to the hotel room. So I’m not blaming the Rainforest Cafe, but it was the last thing me and Jake ate (we always share our food) we got food poisoning and were both hovered over the toilet throwing up. We both felt extremely sick and feeling ill. I had to text all of our family and let them know we had to cancel going to Magic Kingdom the next day and push it back a day so we could get better. Just our luck!!!
After getting lots of sleep and puking our guts out (sorry a little explicit), we decided to have Aspens Birthday dinner that night and eat her cake since we pushed Magic Kingdom back. So all of our family met at Millers restaurant (yummy food, traditional ribs, hamburgers, wings, fries etc) we ate had a good time and let Aspen dive into her Cake. Have to love a messy baby eating her cake!!!
Her Birthday extravaganza!! Whoever said she was too young is completely wrong she had so much fun and was laughing and smiling the whole time! She went on many rides, danced with some of the characters and just loved being surrounded by family. I will say she was being such a mommy’s girl and only wanted to be held by me. So of course I soaked up all the love I could get from her. We stayed all the way till the sun was down. We tried staying for the fireworks but Aspen was ready for bed, being super fussy and Jake and I were pooped so we called it a night and went back to the hotel room.
We were staying at the Holiday Inn (they bought out the Nickelodeon Hotel) we decided to use the amenities and Swim and hang out at the hotel. And if you know Aspen you know that she LOVES swimming and splashing around in the water. So she loved that!! We then went to Disney Springs which is basically a huge outside mall. We walked around and did a lot of window shopping and of course I loved that!!
Our last day!
All amazing vacations have to come to an end. We packed our bags checked out of the hotel and went and got lunch with all of our family. We decided before we went back to Jacksonville and Family flew home we would go to a place called Fun Spot. We rode a bunch of rides, Aspen played in a water fountain and we went and looked at gators which was super cool. It was definitely a good way to end our vacation.
After having such a fun filled day, our day came to an end and we had to say bye to family, which was hard to do because it was so nice having them around. We gave lots of hugs and kisses said our goodbyes, got in our car and drove 2 hours back home.
Aspen had so much fun and we are so blessed that we have family that were able to come down and celebrate her first birthday. We will be back in Colorado next year and will probably throw her a traditional Birthday party but this year we wanted to be a little extra since it was the first year of her life and we are so far away from everyone. I’m glad I get to share it all with you and you can be a part of it as well. Thank you, for watching our family journey and watching us grow and learn as we go. Aspen has been such a blessing and I just want to give her the world. If you have made it all the way to the end of this blog post, I truly appreciate it and the support means the world to me. Can’t wait to see what this next year has in store for the Padilla family.
